Losing sight

Raging not against the dying
only curtailed living of the light

strength forever weakened, dimmed
deflected glow through prisms keening

Good news, bad news. Good news - this is about as equally packed with light-giving prismatic affirmations as Dylan Thomas's celebrated piece. Bad news, it's a pity he did not live to see this modernist responsorial.

At once melancholy, affirming, and resigned, and yet, we move into the growing light, and though its glow may be deflected, light dances through the prisms of experience and memory. I LOVE the double meaning of keening here: mourning and perceiving; a brilliant twist in this sublime, regretful piece...
